Which Linux distro is best for you? There is no right answer because it depends on your experience and needs. Here are the first seven Linux operating systems for the year 2011. Each program is based on a simple setup, usability, and classified the level of support available.

Ubuntu is one of the most popular desktop Linux distributions. New versions are released approximately every six months. This program is easy to install and use. The broad support comes from both technical experts and end users. Ubuntu is a great program for beginners.

Mandriva was originally published on a restructured version of Red Hat Linux. The current software is user-friendly features such as improved hardware detection and intuitive partitioning added. Mandriva also uses a KDE desktop, and has a great support that makes it a good program for beginners.

PCLinuxOS is perfect for new Linux users thanks to its intuitive graphical installer. It provides the user with the current desktop software, quick start-up times. This program was our worst rating for the support, because it is not supported in a language other than English. Moreover, the program is only in a 32-bit version available and new versions are not scheduled regularly.

Gentoo for power users is designed so that they end adjustments. It also has a high safety. One of the best features is the ability to keep the current system without reinstalling the software. However, making a long compilation times and occasional instability, it is less a crowd pleaser than other available software.

openSUSE is a comprehensive and intuitive configuration tool. The program includes user-friendly desktop environments (GNOME and KDE). The program gets high marks for the help and support. However, the strong tend to use the resources for desktop setup and graphical tools to slow the program.

Debian GNU / Linux infrastructure supports more than any other Linux distribution program and includes over 20,000 software packages. It has become the largest Linux distribution that has ever created and inspired more than 120 Debian-based distributions. The program has a reputation for stability and most bug-free Linux distribution system on the market. However, their intensive tests to long intervals between releases, usually 1-3 years out.

FreeBSD was introduced into the market in 1993. The program is not in the same league as the other programs mentioned. However, it is fast, stable and has more than 15,000 software applications available. FreeBSD lacks a graphical installer and the useful features of the hardware detection and system configuration must be done manually by the user.

Ultimately, the program that’s right for you. Ubuntu PCLinusOS and allows beginners to linux to use without a steep learning curve to achieve results. Gentoo and FreeBSD are definitely for advanced users. Mandriva, Debian GNU / Linux and openSUSE are the best programs, if you are willing to trade a number of advanced functions for the stability and continued support.
